Traditional style 'chalet', Rainha Maria Pia de Sabóia, commissioned to be built as a royal summer residence at the end of the 19th century (1893), with a constucted area of around 1,100 sqm. There are two buildings (the main house and the other one which originally served as a staff quarters) which stand in a plot of 8,522 sqm. This chalet, located in front of the sea, enjoys a splendid view over the Bay of Cascais and the River Tagus. The main house, which is spread over 4 floors and was lived in until recently, is in fine structural condition. It has a lift which connects all the floors as well as a dumb waiter which connects the kitchen with the scullery. There are 10 bedrooms and a number of other rooms. The house has kept its original lines and has undergone small restoration works but keeps its parquet floors and its original ceilings of which stand out the frescos done by the Portuguese painter to the crown - António Ramalho in 1896 and the Royal Coat of Arms of the House of Bragança and the House of Sabóia, as well as some original windows. Regarding the other building, which was the staff quarters and stables, part was later transformed into a small family winery with installations for fermenting the grapes from the 500 vines of the Merlot variety planted in large clay pots in the vast garden. The garden also has a large lawned area which is watered automatically from a borehole and from an old estufa. There is also a leisure area with a swimming pool, near where there is a kitchenette, a storage room and a changing rooms area. At the beginning of the 20th century the chalet became the property of a noble Portuguese family who have remained the owners until the present day.
