When Porta da Frente Christie's first began courting clients in Brazil, back in 2012 and 2013, the central pitch was already safety — the possibility for families to raise their children in a stable environment. That is what Rafael Ascenso, Founder and Partner at the company, recalls in an interview with Fora de Série.
Ascenso notes that this perception of Portugal as a safe country is nothing new, and that the golden visa "had its time", without particular nostalgia for it — but that the Non-Habitual Resident tax regime mattered greatly to the Portuguese economy, not just to real estate. For the founder of Porta da Frente, it is the combination of stability, climate, territory, quality of services and the way newcomers are welcomed that makes Portugal a genuinely relevant asset, capable of attracting people from very different geographies.
